Dark Chocolate, Wine, and Quantum Face-Lift
What do they have in Common?
There is more than one way to feel pampered.
Here are my favorites.
My favorite pamper food is a piece of dark chocolate. When my husband hands me my daily dose for a chocolate pampering moment, it always brings on a smile. I put one of my 2 squares of dark chocolate into my mouth and slowly allow it to melt to savor the taste, as slowly as possible, enjoying every moment of it. Oh, the tastes: bitter-sweet, roasted, fruity, earthy, woodsy and nutty; all blended into one.
Slowly sipping a glass of my favorite dry red wine is another way I feel pampered. Just imagine the infinite enjoyment of the delicious flavour and aroma with supple, soft tannins and smooth balance between fruity and acid. Sip, swirl, swallow and savor!
Many Quantum Face-Lift students have expressed experiencing the joy of a sparkling feeling while being both relaxed and energized. In the words of several Workshop participants the experience is: “… rejuvenating, relaxing and energizing simultaneously … a wonderful experience … very restorative and relaxing … incredibly enjoyable … refreshing and remarkably invigorating … QFL is nothing if it isn’t divine.” For me, it makes my face sparkle, it prompts my heart to rejoice, and it causes my entire body to shift into a glorious and joyful state of wellness. My favorite name for the Quantum Face-Lift method is Energetic Pampering. I’ve chosen it as the title for the book I wrote explaining the techniques.
So far, that’s it for the emotional commonality of dark chocolate, wine and Quantum Face-Lift.
Now for the science.
It is generally believed that dark chocolate benefits your health.
Studies have shown cocoa has the intelligence to ‘reduce oxidative stress which can lead to decreased damage to skin and reduced signs of aging’. In other words, it removes fine lines and wrinkle formations. In skincare, the chocolate bean is used in various products such as cocoa oil, cocoa powder, or cocoa butter. The main ingredients of raw cocoa include polyphenols, theobromine, and minerals, specifically magnesium. When developed into product formulations, these bioactive components empower cosmetic products to have antioxidant, anti-aging, and moisturizing effects on the skin. It is fascinating to me to read that theobromine has antioxidant activity, and pure theobromine prevents UV-induced wrinkles. According to studies done at the Mayo clinic cocoa flavanols, a type of phytonutrient, may reduce some measure of age-related cognitive issues when eaten regularly.
A glass of red wine after a long day is a proven way to de-stress.
Red wine contains antioxidants. It boosts the immune system. Yes, red wine helps us age more slowly. “It is really good for the skin and in fact, prevents ageing of skin. Red wine is packed with antioxidants like flavonoid, resveratrol and tannin which help fight ageing by restoring collagen and elastic fibers”, says Anshul Jaibharat, a Delhi-based nutritionist.
A note for the wine and chocolate connoseurs: chocolate can pair well with a fruity red wine. The more intense your chocolate is (80 plus percent cocao) – the more intense your wine should be. Some fortified wine, like a good Port, will work with super-dark chocolate.
One of the key methods of Quantum Face-Lift is energetically boosting the lymphatic system.
Medical science has proven that the lymphatic system removes unhealthy cells and replaces them with healthy cells allowing the face to be naturally rejuvenated. Another component of the QFL is Tapping. According to new research in Personal Epigenetics, Tapping produces changes in the expression of 72 genes that regulate our stress, such as those that code for adrenaline and cortisol. Those changes provide protection against the sun’s ultraviolet radiation, strengthens cell membranes and reduces oxidative stress.
For an extra bonus: Resveratrol, an antioxidant found in both red wine and dark chocolate reduce heart disease and boost memory. Quantum Face-Lift reduces stress, the biggest culprit causing heart disease, and awards you with more vitality.
